BBAU: Big Brother “In Talks” To Air In 2016

Big Brother is reportedly in talks to air in the fourth quarter of the 2016 ratings year, after it was rested by The Nine Network this year, in favour of Celebrity Apprentice.

“Celebrity Apprentice hasn’t worked — it’s flat as a tack,” a source from The Nine Network said to NewsCorp.

“Now Nine is thinking about reviving Big Brother for its fourth quarter schedule in 2016

Apparently early conversations have taken place between Nine and Endemol Shine, to air Big Brother in late 2016.

The Nine Network made the decision to rest Big Brother this year, after the 2014 season of the show struggled with an on-air audience due to it’s late timeslot and was heavily criticized by fans for it’s ever changing timeslot.

However, Andrew Backwell reported late last year, that Big Brother had done well on The Nine Network’s online catch-up service Jump-In.

Earlier this year there were rumours that the house located at Dreamworld had been demolished with items of the house put up for auction at the same time, which has now been confirmed to have been “spring cleaning” by a Channel 9 source from NewsCorp.

It is hoped by long hard fans of the show that Big Brother will return to its 7:30pm timeslot, which was seen last in the 2013 season, which was a massive success for The Nine Network.

Executive Producer Alex Mavroidakis could be unlikely to return to Big Brother in 2016, due to his role on Network Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The Nine Network has made no clear announcements about Big Brother for 2016, but we can expect to hear some in the coming months….Watch this space.
