BBAU: Speculation Leaves Fans Questioning + Nine’s Notorious Lack of Info

nSpeculation is heavily circling the Big Brother Australia sphere, and it’s hard to know what is actually going on. We dive into the potential and practically of airing Big Brother this year, and the possibility of it happening.

We have had two reports from Media sources: one claiming Celebrity Big Brother will be airing on The Nine Network this year, and the other claiming Big Brother will airing this year.

Currently as it stands NOTHING has been publically confirmed by The Nine Network, the last thing publically said about the program was back in February with it’s future “being decided”.

So what are the chances of either editions being commissioned this year?

Celebrity Big Brother

Launch dates: Anytime between September – November – the series would last around 3 to 6 weeks.

Auditions No auditions would need to be conducted.

House Construction: The house would not need to be renovated, it would simply need a décor revamp. Like the UK show is handled.

Benefits:
* An even shorter season would allow for Nine to be able to enhance quality not quantity – Less housemates, real stories.
* Commercially having a shorter season would allow for Nine to get top notch sponsors.
* Benefit Social Media Trends by keeping audience engaged.
* A shorter season would allow Nine to properly plan out a season, without the need to throw in random gimmicks throughout the season.
* A shorter season in itself would keep audiences interested, and looking forward to the program returning the following year.
* Big Brother Australia has the highest number of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram followers combined than all other English speaking Big Brother’s with larger populations. Nine has the original and best reality format in the world, and if done correctly i.e. a decent amount of Live Streaming, Live Updates and Consistent timeslots and a relatable and entertaining cast, we could beat the success of Big Brother 2013.
* Testing Live Streaming, Revival of Friday Night Live and perhaps a Big Brother Sideshow could be done to work out what would work if they commissioned regular Big Brother again.
* Increased Social Media trends due to Two Evictions a week.

Practicality
Celebrity Big Brother is 100% practical and viable for Channel 9. The show could start as late as November.

Big Brother

Launch dates: 7th September, 14th of September, 21st September – Which would allow the series duration to be anywhere near 10-12 weeks (70-84 days).

Auditions The Nine Network really would have to get the ball rolling. Auditions could begin in Late May at the latest.

House Construction: Would definitely have to begin in June to be ready for a September Launch.

Practicality
Nine could definitely commission Big Brother 2015 there is no doubt. However, with Sonia Kruger’s new role on The Voice which is set to begin in July, Big Brother would have to start Mid to Late-September, due to the show ending around Late August-Early September.

So while the rumours continue to circulate there is only a matter of time before The Nine Network will finally break their silence.
