Dave Lee Travis linked to Celebrity Big Brother in controversial deal

Dave Lee Travis has been linked to the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother – and the offer is said to be as much as £300,000

The former Radio 1 DJ has been approached by producers to appear on the next series of Celebrity Big Brother, which kicks off in January. Travis has reportedly been offered £300,000 to appear on the show – but the deal could be called off.

Last week, Travis was convicted of groping a young woman during the production of a television program back in 1995. The 69-year old star was given a three month prison sentence – suspended for two years. The Sun reported that CBB bosses got in touch with the ex-DJ shortly after his sentence was given, in the hopes that he would enter the House.

However now the deal could be called off, as the Attorney General will be reviewing his sentence after receiving complaints that it is too lenient.

A show source told the tabloid: “We made him an offer as he has a great story to tell. However, it now appears he could end up serving time. In that case we would have to think seriously about whether he’s the right kind of person for the show.”

Celebrity Big Brother is expected to return in January 2015 for the fifteenth edition of the show.
