Day 13: C5 record highest performing weekend for CBB since 2011

Channel 5 have officially announced that they have recorded Celebrity Big Brother’s highest performing weekend on record, since the series moved to the channel in 2011.

Celebrity Big Brother’s Sunday highlights show gained an outstanding figure of 3.22m viewers (13.1%) including +1. The show was just 50K down on the launch night episode and this is particularly interesting as it it the only highlights show to gain such ratings since the 2010 series back on Channel 4, even more impressive considering the previous night’s ratings were it’s highest for a Saturday since August 2011.

Channel 5 today issued a press release with the weekends ratings, noting that “this explosive series has also been the number 1 tweeted about television show each day since launch.”

All weekend figures are based on BARB live data including Channel 5 +1 and Channel 5 HD. *Launch figure taken from consolidated BARB data including Channel 5 +1 and Channel 5 HD.

The show amassed third in it’s slot, however Sunday’s are known to hold strong competition when compared with other nights of the week. BBC One’s The Last Tango In Halifax held a healthy 6.24m viewers (25.5%) thanks to it’s placement next to super-hit Call The Midwife. ITV faired well with Foyle’s War entertaining 3.54m viewers (14.2%) meanwhile Channel 4’s offering of Walking the Nile was trekked by 1.73m (7.0%) and finally, BBC Two’s Britain’s Flying Past held onto 962K (3.9%)

Celebrity Big Brother’s current overnight’s average reveal the show has amounted to 2.65m viewers (11.8%). But with the previous night’s rating, plus a high percentage of people catching on demand, could we see these figures being pushed to 3.0m viewers in officials? Have your say in our comments below!
