Day -7: Diary Room Bell removed from new BB House?

Reports suggest that the iconic door bell has been removed from the Big Brother House

The iconic flashing bell that Housemates used to call Big Brother to enter the Diary Room won’t feature in this years series a report suggests.

The doorbell – that has been used since Big Brother moved to Elstree Studios back in 2002 – flashes and allows the Housemates to request entry into the Diary Room. However, it has been removed and given to Bit on the Side host, Rylan Clark.

“I’ve got the Diary Room chair from my series and I’ve always wanted a Diary Room doorbell,” he said. Speculation among fans suggest that Big Brother could be installing a voice control system or a hand print system to keep in with the new technology themed House and Power Trip theme.

Channel 4’s original Diary Room bell was sold on eBay following the final of Ultimate Big Brother in September 2010, and a replica was created for the new series of Big Brother when it returned to Channel 4 in August 2011.

Big Brother: Power Trip begins next Thursday at 9pm.
