Day 8: Over 200 complaints to Ofcom recorded since Launch

Broadcast regulator, Ofcom, has reported that they have recorded over 200 complaints since Launch Night

Last week, Big Brother: Power Trip kicked off on Channel 5, and in the first week, Ofcom has reported that they have received over 200 complaints from viewers.

209 complaints have come through about the current series, with allegations of blasphemy, bullying, racism and swearing. The argument between Helen and Danielle recorded a total of 166 complaints, which aired on Tuesday evening. The argument forced Channel 5 to pull the daytime repeat of the highlights show for the first time in the shows history.

Now Ofcom is assessing the complaints and deciding whether or not to open a formal investigation into the comments made by the Housemates.

Last year, Big Brother was the most complained about show on television – with Big Brother: Secrets and Lies hitting a total of 965 complaints, while Celebrity Big Brother that followed in August totaled up a 438 complaints overall.

Big Brother continues tonight at 10pm.
