Day 11: First CBB eviction scores 2.92 Million viewers

The first eviction, and entrance of Katie Price, scored an impressive 2.92 million viewers last night

Celebrity Big Brother had a near record achieving rating last night, as Ex On The Beach star Chloe Goodman was evicted, while moments later supermodel Katie Price entered the house and banished 3 housemates to jail. Last night’s 1 hour and 30 minute show achieved 2.92m viewers (13.3%) with an extremely impressive peak of 3.58m viewers (18.1%)

The success for Channel 5 continued on with Bit On The Side retaining an impressive 1.29m viewers (8.9%), meanwhile Live From The House impressed a further 863K (10.8%) into the late hours of the night. Celebrity Big Brother had finished several minutes early than anticipated however, therefore live tape checking could mean the figure of 2.92m viewers being increased to 3.06m viewers, just 10K down on last year’s surprise Lee Ryan eviction however 1.2% up in shares. Therefore making yesterday’s show the 2nd most watched show in Channel 5 history. (exc. launch and finale shows)

Celebrity Big Brother came 3rd in it’s slot despite the success, however television elsewhere seemed to take an unexpected plunge thanks to the strong peak rating. ITV’s comedy series Benidorm continued with 4.92m viewers (21.1%) while BBC One’s The Musketeers drew just 3.39m/14.5% in the same hour.

In other ratings news, official shares for the current and previous week of the top 5 channels have been published, with ITV holding the strongest decrease, meanwhile Channel 5 is the only channel to hold it’s share. And with this information including only the first few shows of the latest Celebrity Big Brother series, it is expected that the channel will be the only to increase on shares in the coming weeks, evidenced through the fact the show continually hit’s 2nd and 3rd in it’s slot.

BBC One CURRENT – 21.8% / PREVIOUS – 22.00% (-0.2%)
